Oh, that's right! I had forgotten about the canal barges in the UK--and we had seen a presentation about them at a sailing conference about a decade ago. Now that's a trip I'd definitely take--and you're making me jealous. We usually take a winter vacation to someplace warm, and we've got plenty of time to make plans.

We have Brit friends who are now loyal American Citizens, and they went with another couple we know on a 7 day barge trip in the summer.

Both couples had a wonderful time. The people along the canal were great. The shops and the pubs were a pleasure to visit with no language problem.
