No doubt it was horrible, but the US has done many similar tests. Footage of them is available, and I saw film of several tests on dogs, sheep, and monkeys when in the USAF.
The US has also tested chemical and biological techniques on civilians right here in the country. Not using lethal agents, but testing in subways, etc. In one case, a supposedly non-lethal bacterial agent was released in San Francisco, causing a number of people to become sick.
It's a horrible thing to watch, but it's not just Saddam. Every country with biochemical warfare agents has done such testing.

I've seen the Atomic Bomb movie many times. The part I can't watch is the part when the sheep "baaaaaa." I can't watch that part.
But I do eat a lot of red meat. Give me a good steak any time.
