NO! He will announce the war has started when he gives an address to the nation from the Oval Office. This is not that speech. This is a press conference.

He didn't say anything new.
Now he's going to answer inane and "anti-war loaded" questions by the press.

Agreed.

Wait for the questions.
Now taking questions. First question is "timing," why not give Sadam a few days notice?
Bush: We're still using diplomacy. Stating the facts, Sadam has not disarmed. Sadam is still on his one last chance. This is an important moment for the UN Security Council too. They have had this ball for 12 years, and their words need to have weight, in order to have merit.

Why do I get the feeling that missiles are in the air and that Bush is just waiting to announce that the liberation of Iraq begins NOW to coincide with a TOT barrage of missiles. Not quite. We're already to the questions (and no, the BattleAxe is not asking dumb-ass question #1).
"We're still in the final stages of diplomacy." The follow-up is that the diplomacy is not to extend the deadline; it's to get action on 17 post-Gulf War resolutions.

WHo is the vulture who just asked "What would it hurt to give SH ONE LAST CHANCE to disarm? GMAFB!!!
To: Dog
Ron Fournier, AP You don't think saddam has disarmed....called on the world...are we just DAYS away, and what harm would it do to give saddam a final ultimatum...
President....we're in final stages of diplomacy.....1441 passed unamiously....said saddam has ONE LAST CHANCE to disarm...he hasn't so we're working with security council members to resolve this....important moment for the sec council as well as nation....this issue has been before them for 12 long years....fund. question - do its words mean anything....I think its important for words to have word and weight....must work together...

IIRC, that would be the Daily Mail. However, don't put too much stock in it. This kind of leak is intended to get out.

Agree.......

How can it be that so many don't hear what he is saying, don't see what is right in front of their noses?!Because as soon as our President leaves, the press will give our enemies their microphones.

I assume Helen is there...when's the last time she didn't get the deference of asking first? Maybe I read too much into the slight to her.

Let the UN have their final moment in the sun, but after tomorrow, all bets are off.
