In good time either the US goes to war against Communist China or Communist China will do a "Pearl Harbor" on the US.
To: Dog
Its appropriate to be subdued when you are about to send people into battle. Its not something to be giddy about.

Jesus Christ, enough with the Bush-bashing already, people! If I wanted to read a bunch of whiny "we're all doomed" rhetoric, I'd be following the DU thread, not the FR thread. It's a PRESS CONFERENCE. Nothing more.

LA Times....cost of war...why not present something to American people...
President....we will ....at the appropr. time we'll present the supplemental...I want to remind you ......there is a huge cost when we get attacked.....significant....cost of lives...immeasurable...3000 people died....economy losses....besides the repair costs and airline costs....if I thought we were safe from attack I would think differently, but I see a real threat....to America

100,000 American CIVILIANS living and working on South Korea
Hey, there are civilians living near Iraq - - Israelis and Arabs. They're threatened with chemical weapons from Iraq if we attack, just as South Korean residents (including Americans) would be threatened there, if we attacked the North. If containment will work on the Korean peninsula - as Bush says it will work -- then I have not heard anyone explain why it won't, or can't work in Iraq.
What I HAVE heard is a lot of Bible thumpers who lust for Moslem blood and some kind of fulfillment of Revelation prophecies. That's not my idea of a good reason to go to war. I FAVOR THE BUSH DOCTRINE - I.E. THE ONE HE'S EMPLOYING IN KOREA. IF IT CAN WORK THERE, IT CAN WORK IN IRAQ; HE HASN'T EXPLAINED WHY THE DOUBLE STANDARD.

>>He'll simply say: "I anwered these questions last week - now excuse me, I'm the Commander In Chief and I have the lives of our troops to worry about."<<
I'm thinking he'll say, "I answered these questions yesterday..."

Look lady...the world has heard ALL of this before. He is repeating the EXACT SAME ARGUMENTS he has made over and over again INTERMINABLY FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS AND MONTHS. The world doesn't get it, the peaceniks don't get it, France & Germany doesn't get it. NO MATTER WHAT HE SAYS THEY NEVER WILL! It is HIGH TIME to quit making these REDUNDANT arguments. THE TIME FOR TALK IS OVER! THE TIME FOR ACTION IS NOW!!!!!!!!!! Look, I don't know why you're so hostile. I am sure the President would not compromise our ability for the complete success in the event of war against Iraq for one more press conference.
This is a press conference to buy time.
To: Texas_Jarhead
True enough, sir. Not even Winston himself would put up with such errant nonsense.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

The President is on the cusp of a terrible responsiblity. Giving the order which will cause lives to be lost. And I believe both he and his father before him take this incredibly seriously.
Meanwhile the reporters play games...

I'm on dweeb whacking duty.
To: All
He knows he will order our sons and daughters into battle. He is not happy.
I, for one, am glad this man is President.
To: getmeouttaPalmBeachCounty_FL
good to see you, friend.

How would you weight the costs of someone lobbing a WMD on Israel?

How much will it cost? Sounds like a broken record even from congress critters who are fully aware he will have to request $$ from congress and all will be known then. He sees a gathering threat regardless of the cost!
To: PhiKapMom
I can't believe the stupidity of these reporters. How do you put a price tag on human lives?
