"This is a news conference. This is not a scheduled announcement of anything," Fleischer said.

Bush will lay out the time table for the idiot media so they have a clearer understanding where we are and where and when we are going. It's necessary so they don't say they were never told and that they never had an opportunity to question Bush on this.

According to my computer, Iraq is GMT +3 and DC is GMT-5. 8PM DC time is 4AM Iraqi time. Great time for an attack. BTW, our bombers hit Bagdad at 4AM local in Desert Storm if I remember correctly.

You can set up your own personal world clock by clicking on the link below the times I have to change the settings. Just select the cities you want included and select how the time is displayed (12 hr or 24 time, etc.). I hope that answers your question.

They are not "clearing the schedule". They are avoiding placing key personnel where they might be asked embarrassing questions like "why is the UN evacuating"? or "has the war started"?

GD, all I have to do is see an old movie or teevee show about New York, seeing the towers as they were, intact. That brings a tear to my eye, and outrage to my heart. I never thought they were the architectural wonders many claimed, but dangitall, they were our towers, with or without architectural warts. More importantly, the lives lost that day were not up for grabs. There must be justice. Recently information is finally hitting the mainstream that Hussein was indeed involved, and probably has been since before 1993, when the first WTC bomb hit. Any action coming now is not only justified, but overdue.

can anyone corroborate the story about the inspectors bugging out? If that is true then Chirac is wetting his foofy french pantaloons about now.

I do not believe a press conference would be the appropriate venue to announce commencement of action. this is more likely a preamble and synopsis of how we got to this point.

Maybe if Saddam is expecting something tonite, he would blow a few oil wells to get a nice thick blanket of smoke over Baghdad to make bomb dropping a little more difficult.

Of course a blanket of smoke won't have any impact upon satellite-guided bombs.

You and I have the same feelings re the pictures of the mass murdering of innocent Americans on 9/11/2001.

We are just 2 of millions who feel this way.

thought so - especially with Blix tomorrow expected to kiss all four of Saddams cheeks and call for more and more inspectors and lots more time for Iraq to "continue positive developments" and "real disarmament". The UN diversion did give us enough time to deploy our troops though, waste of time it was for all other purposes.

I think the oil field story was a bad translation--someone had a better that said one refinery had been blown up, but that mines had been placed on others. As for the inspectors leaving Iraq, I'm unable to find any confirmation on that one.

I believe that our president is going to say that the US, Britian and its allies will go with or without the UN. If they are going to make themselves relevant, this is their last opportunity. I think it is a way to get the resolution passed that he wants. It is more likely to be passed if they know we're going and their relevancy is in question if they don't pass the resolution.
