As for Lindh, why is anyone surprised that prisoners beat up on him? Least of all his high-priced lawyer? Perhaps the wily barrister requested his transfer to general population knowing full well that other prisoners would take action....then attorney could argue for Jihad Johnny's early release "for his own safety." Or even sue the prison system for allowing the little twerp to get bashed.
