I hope the President has a live feed of OBL pleading with Chirac to come rescue him. Of course W. could smile and say that was a little joke, but not before the entire French population soils their undies.

I could not believe whe was not taken outside yesterday. Really , there should be some rules as to behavior by these " journalists". She is acting as a human sheild right here at home. I can not stand her shrill dry voice any longer.

Yes, but how far can the East Room be from the Oval Office? It could be a bluff just prior to a change of venue.

President Bush is considering an address to the US nation next week giving Saddam Hussein a short-term ultimatum to disarm or face war, according to White House officials. No, this is indeed scheduled for next week; the presser tonight is a completely different event. There's another thread around here somewhere speculating about Bush's address next week.

I think its supposed to be a Q&A session.

The troops are cocked and locked and losing their edge. Just pull the trigger! Naw, troops don't lose "their edge" that quickly. We had troops sitting in the Gulf for more than 6 months before the ground war in 1991, and they did just fine. And frankly, with the little monkey wrench the Turks tossed at us, a few more weeks wouldn't hurt.
The reality is that it is better for us to have international support. Not essential, but preferable. We might want to tell the U.N. to screw itself, but the support still would be helpful. If Dubya thinks that a couple more weeks is okay, then really, are we in a position to question him? After all, its his judgment we're relying on in the first place.

He gave the speech about Afghanistan in the Treaty Room or the Map Room, so he doesn't necessarily have to be in the Oval Office.

Something to file away...
But a little none fact...the President didn't announce the opening of the war in Afghanistan from the Oval Office. I think it was from the residence of the White House..

There was talk last night that the networks had declined to give up the precious Thurday TV night for movie advertising dollars and would not sign on to broadcast the presser.
Only FOX and MSNBC gave immediate clearance.

Damn! I've gotta work and won't be able to watch any TV. (The inmates are the only ones who are allowed to know what's going on in the world!) I hope Helen Thomas is in the front row and that Bush slams her "big time". Make a good thread gang so I can catch up with it all when I get home tonight.

I doubt it'd be about OBL because that would muck up the Iraq issue.I disagree. If what Mansoor Ijaz and others have been saying is correct, Saddam and OBL have been working hand-in-hand for years. Announcing the capture of OBL before the invasion lets Saddam know that he is now more isolated than ever.
To: TonyRo76
I believe you're correct. I guess the implication goes in the other direction: East Room->Press Conference as opposed to Press Conference->East Room.

I'm with you...this cannot be the final, final of the final threat of the last final threat...and this is final!
Good Lord...there is nothing more to say. There is nothing more for the U.N. to say. There is nothing more Blix Trix can say. General Franks says we're ready. Powell says no more dickering. What could we possibly be waiting for? There is nothing else to wait for....let's freakin' go!
Just go! Now! Go! No more warnings...just do it!
