What was the purpose of this vote if they were going to allow other matters to be considered??If the GOP is serious its to create still targets which can know be shot at by applying pressure to constituents. If the GOP is not serious it puts closure on their threats.
At a minimum it means that when the tables are turned it will take over 60 votes for the next liberal judge to be appointed.

You got that right, Tony sounds like he has an axe to grind.
So what is up with him, I can barely stand to listen to him these days. He sounds more like Juan William than the old Tony of yesterday.

Frist is a weak leader
No he isn't.
To: TLBSHOW
Did you see that William Rusher's op ed piece in this morning's Washington Times also calls for going 24/7?

What was the purpose of this vote if they were going to allow other matters to be considered?? To put the Senators on the record as opposing taking a vote on confirmation of Estrada.
It's fun to be a critic, I know, but I suggest that you reserve the Monday-morning quarterbacking until the game is over. Estrada will be confirmed, and the GOP will see to it, while not damaging itself (the GOP) in the eyes of the (lazy, non-news junkie) public; and at the same time, inflicting maximum damage to the Democrat party.

Bayah voted NO. Freep the Hell out of his office! I guess this puts to rest the notion that he is a moderate Democrat.

Well, Frist is a weak leader if you still want Trent Lott to be in there. /sarcasm off.

The Estrada nomination is now the 700 lb gorilla the Dems will have to deal with. I don't expect 24/7 on him. What I do expect is for this vote to be repeated every so often until the dems get it right.
Death by a thousand cuts. There is no way they win out on this one. Couple this with the fact they are on the wrong side of Iraq, tax cuts and abortion. Their days as a viable entity are numbered.
To: Howlin
Of course!
LET'S FOCUS, MY FRIENDS:
I'M SO PROUD THAT WE NOW HAVE UNANIMOUS CONSENT FROM ALL OF OUR REPUBLICAN SENATORS, AND VERY PLEASED WE HAVE FOUR DEMOCRATS WILLING TO WORK ACROSS THE AISLE.
SHOWS THAT WE CAN BRING, AND PASS, ANYTHING NOT NEEDING 2/3 VOTES TO THE FLOOR AND PASS IT. DEMOCRATS CANNOT SPEND THE NEXT TWO YEARS FILLIBUSTERING. THEY KNOW THIS.
REJOICE, AND LET'S WATCH THE GAMES BEGIN.
To: TLBSHOW
Speaking of Cave-A-Lott; he not only wouldn't have gotten even the 4 RATs with a conscience, he also wouldn't have held his merry band of RINOs together.
We've got all year, and Bush as all the authorization he needs to wax Saddam's plow with his blood, so I want All Estrada, All The Time, and I wanted it to start a half hour ago.

Hey, I'm glad you typed that in all CAPS; it means you're right, huh? :-)
Maybe you should add MABLEKITTY SAYS! That would mean it was really true, huh?
And I, like you, am proud to be a Republican today. I didn't see any GOPers going across the aisle, did you?

You want a 24/7 filibuster during a war? Considering that Bush as all the authority he needs, yes. It's kind of hard for the pieceniks to turn it back off if they're busy getting sore throats keeping a qualified judge off the bench.

For what it's worth, Tony Snow is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). He has never really appealed to me, not because of that association, but for reasons I can't quite put a finger on.
When he subbed for Rush, I would find myself not listening. I won't watch him on Fox.
Hume is excellent, and naturally, I am spoiled by FR, and Fox News is a step-down from this forum.

Press Cancellations: Diane Sawyer is on a show I'm watching. She talked about the last news of the couple of hours that they are getting is about Usama and they are hot on his trail and apparently trying to flush him out.
I'm guessing that we either have him or his #2 man as I'm sure they would split up. I'd look for a REAL tall chick in a burka. I'd guess he would wire himself. DEAD or Alive is good!!!!!

I emailed Bob Graham yesterday - I received this response this morning:
Thank you for contacting my office to share your ideas and opinions.
During the week of February 24, 2003, the Senate considered the nomination of Miguel Estrada to be a United States Circuit Judge for the D.C. Circuit. Candidates for the federal bench, such as Mr. Estrada, are nominated by the President for lifetime terms and are subject to confirmation by the Senate. Mr. Estrada's nomination will continue to be considered by the full Senate in the next week.
Please be assured that I will continue to work with my colleagues in the Senate and House of Representatives toward the passage of legislation of importance to Florida and the nation, including a responsible federal budget that reflects our shared priorities and measures that strengthen health care, education, and homeland security. Your input is a valuable resource as I represent Floridians in the United States Senate, and I encourage you to continue to
monitor legislative developments via my website,
http://graham.senate.gov. I appreciate knowing of your concerns and look forward to hearing from you in the future.
Thank you for contacting my office about issues of concern to you. If you would like more information or would like to share additional comments please do not respond to this e-mail. Rather, please visit my website,
http://graham.senate.gov/email.html, and from the website you can forward additional comments to my office. Please do not respond to this e-mail.
Sincerely,
Bob Graham
United States Senator

Lott would have made some sort of power sharing deal where each party would get a candidate threw or something.

Remember the bad old days when the moderates ordered the rest of the party around?
Looks like it's a new day! We've got all ours in solidarity, and it's good to be Right! ; )
