Graham punted and now he can say as a Presidential candidate that he would have voted to invoke cloture if that positions suits him!

The other candidates all voted "NO" which we need to keep reminding Hispanic voters!

Before the enactment of the 17th amendment to the US Constitution (ratified April 8, 1913), Senators were chosen by their respective state legisltures. Governors were (and are) permitted to make the equivalent of recess appointments, should the office become vacant during its term. (Article I, Section 3 of the US Constitution).

That "pocket Constituion" of mine is dog-eared, but comes in very handy.

What did he say?

I have noticed that the elite media has a full on onslaught,
against the President and his policies.
More so then normal.

They went to closed session during impeachment at least once. My group had just been seated in the gallery & they kicked us out.

Actually, before the 17th Amendment, a number of states had laws that their legislatures would select the person who had won a popular election for the Senate seat in question. This was a "reform" of the Progressives that was gradually winning sway in more and more states. The 17th Amendment made popular election mandatory for all the states.

My radio said Graham did not feel up to being on the floor of the Senate yet and he had not decided how he would vote! PUNT!

That is an excellent question!

What was the purpose of this vote if they were going to allow other matters to be considered??

I am still waiting for somebody to explain to me how Graham can be ON the floor and abstain because of health reasons.

It's a Senate Rule, right under "we will allow scantily clad women to bring us brews in closed session."

I didn't know that. Very interesting tidbit. The Constitution does not say how the Senator is chosen, only that the state legislatures do the choosing. Thank you for the education!

25% more Senators (11 more) voted to end the filibuster than continue it, we will win this one but it will take some time...

I agree with you on Tony Snow. With the exception of Hume, and checking in to see who Greta has on (she is surprisingly objective on many topics despite her bad rep when she joined FNC), I am watching them less and less.
