All this flattering of Leahy and each other by Reid and Schumer sounds to me like a dem valedictory + getting in a last few digs.

My point was that the man's mind IS made up, and he can't hide his decision behind an abstain. He has decided that he wants debate to go on, and that he does NOT want to vote up-or-down on the confirmation at this time.

AP is reporting (hold on to your hat) that white supremists beat up little johnnie. Who didn't see that coming? I only saw Oz once, and I knew that.

The President announcing the press conference today is a great move. Since nobody knows what his "opening statements" are directed at -- and there are several big issues that he can address -- everyone opposing him currently has to spend the day wondering if they are going to be the story line that goes out in Friends/Survivor time.
May I wish them all a nice day wondering!

The DemocRATS would vote unanimously in favor of Estrada if he would utter the four-word liberal agenda:
Abortion good
God bad
To: rockinonritalin
Schumer contendes this process has been an attempt to obliterate the role of advise and consent of the Senate. Schumer states (again) that Estrada is an idealogue. Now cushions it as "we have no way of knowing..." as he again accuses him of avoiding questions.
Schumer says he opposes idealogues as judges whether they be extreme conservatives or liberals.
(I'm just reporting, here)

Are you watching? I'm cubicle-bound, so all I see are the words. We won this.

Don't go wobbly! Frist, Bush, Santorum, Hatch are in this to the end - confirmation!
All we want is a judge who will rule ON the law, not one (see 9th Circuit members) who will MAKE law!
The Dems are fighting to stop a judge from sitting who won't do THEIR bidding.

Sounds like I will not be getting to see Fat Teddy run back and forth to the cloak room to get a nip. To bad, he really could have used the exercise.
To: Howlin
Just from listening and looking, I think Yes. We won. Or will win soon. They may get one defeat of the cloture vote this morning, but they know they won't prevail.
I've been wrong a lot before though.

Or maybe he has already planned to leave at 10:30 and say he has a doctor's appointment or something to that effect.
To: cyncooper

That just makes me want to smash my tv. If they have no way of knowing, how can they accuse him of being an idealogue? Do they now realize how stupid they look with these ridiculous statements???!!!
