Again, what you fail to understand is demand is already there (as well as the drugs) and has been throughout all of human history.

You will only stop people from drugging themselves by killing them. The only other choice is to promote responsible behavior by dealing with drug use in a straightforward manner. That is, using drugs is not the same as having a hard core addiction. This is not promoting drug use - it is informing what the costs and effects of drug use actually are.

From there, the large majority of thinking people will moderate their usage to conform with their beliefs and attitudes regarding what they want out of life - including abstention.
