-- the founding fathers did not envision government for the sake of the greatest possible freedom to be irresponsible.

My, how inanely profound. - Do you imagine that your comment is some sort of rebuttal to something I've posted?

One of my definitions of a self worshiper is to be an objectivist (holds his personal experience above all else).

Self worship? Who cares about your 'definition'? Again, -- your imagined 'point' is not an issue. Get help.

The fact drugs are going to be let in this country to destroy the peoples will to fight. To do just what Bill said here,,,,,

O'REILLY: You know what, both of you? We're living out six-million disasters every day because there are six-million Americans addicted to hard drugs, and every day those people go through many disasters in their own life.

Some of them hurt us. Some of them are just pathetic. Some of them sell their bodies. Some of them have AIDS. Every day, six-million disasters. Yet the United States government with all its power will not do anything to help get this drug thing under control.

Yes, oh please, can I be a part of the party filled with self worshiping people who want Americans to believe the lie that the founding fathers wanted us to have government only in order to secure the greatest freedom to be the most irresponsible that we people can possibly be? Where do I sign up?

Get real.

I'm sorry but I'm afraid you wouldn't qualify. People who don't believe in Freedom aren't happy in the LP. You would probably be more comfortable in a party that believes in controlling how other people live their lives. Socialists would certainly welcome you with open arms.

Good Day!

I prefer this guy's government, my Randite friend:

Ambition must be made to counteract ambition.  The interest of the man must be connected with the constitutional rights of the place.  It may be a reflection on human nature, that such devices should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature?  If men were angels, no government would be necessary.  If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary.  In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.
James Madison, Father of the Constitution

Afghanistan retook its place as the world's leading producer of heroin last year, after US-led forces overthrew the Taliban which had banned cultivation of opium poppies.

The finding was made in a key drug report, distributed in Kabul on Sunday by the US State Department, which supports almost identical findings by the United Nations last week.

Low-grade heroin is refined in Afghanistan from opium, which is manufactured from the extract of poppies.

"The size of the opium harvest in 2002 makes Afghanistan the world's leading opium producer," the report said.

The International Narcotics Control Strategy Report said the area of land used to cultivate opium poppies reached 30,750 hectares, compared with 1,685 hectares in 2001.

The Afghanistan operation served multiple agendas. Most people are either too stupid to understand...to apathetic to care....or they are getting a cut of the action. Americans should be pissed beyond belief!

Sorry if that was rude, tp. I just want to deal with people who believe that American liberties are limited by what is responsible for America.

In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.

The basis for this thought was excellent but sadly in the last 200 years the vision of the founding fathers has been corrupted to the point that the governments control of the governed is becoming dictatorial. The very meaning of Freedom has been warped to the point that it is now limited to however the latest regime in Washington defines it.

Obviously you are more comfortable in an environment where your life and libertys are dictated to you by the federal government. You are willing to give up your own freedom in return for making certain that others have to surrender their freedom. Misery loves company.

I'm not willing to to surrender my freedom for any reason and I have no desire to tell you how to live your life. I also will not accept you or anyone else telling me how to live mine.

Political tags -- such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth -- are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort. -- Lazarus Long

Include me as one of the latter.

My mind is made up about Libertarianism just as it is about Fascism, Communism, Islamism and other idealist, unsupportable, ideologically totalitarian governments. Libertarians want to take our republic and turn it into a virtual tribunal, to ban every governmental action that does not leave the most possible liberty and moral license conceivable under the Constitution. It is as if there is no responsibility to govern in order to "provide for the general welfare," as well as to secure our liberties. It is not Americanism. Libertarianism is anarchy in mock constitutional clothing.

O'REILLY: OK. Now let's go to Mexico. Tons and tons of narcotics coming across from Mexico every single day. The Bush administration won't put the troops on the border even though they now have a reason: national security after 9/11.

Ms. Bonnett, any idea?

BONNETT: I think we just really need the focus on building up the Border Patrol, giving the Customs...

O'REILLY: Not going to happen. Not going to do it. You can...

BONNETT: No, they're not going to.

O'REILLY: No. The Border Patrol itself admits it can't do it, needs the military.

BONNETT: Yes.

O'REILLY: Mr. Housman, any idea why we don't have the military down there?

HOUSMAN: Well, I think one reason is, right now, we have a law called the Posse Comitatus law that prevents the military...

O'REILLY: No, doesn't apply.

HOUSMAN: ... from being used...

O'REILLY: Mr. Housman, it doesn't apply. It does...

HOUSMAN: Well, Bill...

O'REILLY: The Posse Comitatus law only says the military can't make arrests. It does not say...

HOUSMAN: Exactly.

O'REILLY: ... they cannot back up the Border Patrol and inhibit. Now you worked under Clinton.

HOUSMAN: And I agree with you on that, Bill.

O'REILLY: Clinton would not do...

HOUSMAN: I agree with you on that.

O'REILLY: Clinton would not do it either. Why wouldn't President Clinton put troops on the border?

HOUSMAN: Well, I think there's a natural hesitancy to deploy the U.S. military at home, but I also think that we're seeing a shift.

I mean, our borders right now are our front lines in the war against terrorism, in the fight against drugs, and these are interrelated problems, and we need to look at more National Guard support for deploying those units in intelligence.

O'REILLY: But we're not.

HOUSMAN: Bill, I agree with you.

O'REILLY: What is it going to take?
