Can't the students in class simply tell the teacher that her button makes them feel "uncomfortable" or "threatened" or "offended?"
That should stop it. Cause we don't want to possibly threaten anyone, or make anyone uncomfortable, or offend them. Isn't that what teachers have been teaching?

I remember many times during the dark days of the Clinton administration many of us here said Clinton wasn't
our President. I also remember many times telling people that Clinton wasn't my President. How is this different?
This woman acting like a jackass isn't going to influence anyone, especially George Bush.

She's free to shout at the top of her lungs that President Bush isn't her president but she doesn't need to be sharing her political views with middle school students attending a public school. She doesn't have unlimited free speech in the classroom.

How dare you challenge anyone at FreeRepublican.com?

sharing her political views with middle school students attending a public school. She doesn't have unlimited free speech in the classroom. It's a fundamental problem of government schooling. If OTOH the teacher was in a private school, and the parents understood that their children would be taught Democrat-think, there would in principle be no problem.

How is this different? If freepers were doing what you claim they were, they weren't trying to indoctrinate their sixth grade students, unlike this public employee.

How is this different? The difference is she is a teacher. Schools should not be giving political views to children. Schools should be teaching the basics of math, reading etc. not indoctrinating the students.
How long would Michael Savage last teaching a biology course, and interjecting his right wing views to children. -Tom

To say "Clinton/Bush/Whatever isn't my President" will always strike me as extremely childish.

I concur with RightWhale.
I never saw a situation where Clinton was not referred to as the President. We may hate the sonofabitch, we may have wanted him removed, but NEVER was there any question as to authenticity of his position.

This person needs to be removed from taxpayer supported employment. If you want to express partisan views in the classroom, teach in a private school.

What teachers should do and what they actually do are two different things. 40 years ago I had a social studies teacher who was an avid Goldwater supporter. It was a result of his teaching from a conservative point of reference that laid the foundation of my beliefs for life. I am eternally grateful for him giving us his political views. Was he right to do so? Maybe not but I'm sure glad he did.
