Set up a group of golfing buddies that are very strong conservatives. Then just make sure that you have him out numbered every time you play. Then he can get really worked up. The conservatives can just have casual talk giving their viewpoints and ignoring this clown. Evenutally he will either get enough input and start to think or he will take his marbles and go home. Either way you still have a golfing buddy.

Thanks for the thoughtful respose to my dilemna...truly solomonesque. I'll give it careful consideration along with the other suggestions for helping him with therapy and medications.
