Rather has always been full of BS. In his book he claims he was the Sunday morning disk jockey who went to breakfast at the local diner as the church transcription record played at the unmanned station.
Supposedly the preacher said, "If you do not follow the Ways of the Lord, you will go to Hell," and then the record skipped, so for 20 minutes all the listeners heard was "..... go to Hell, (skip) ...go to Hell, (skip).....go to Hell."
Nice try Dan, but that is a radio urban legend that has been around since the 30s, and you claim it as yours in your book!

You will love this...... my Marine just told me that Rather used to claim to be a Marine - but the truth was that he washed out in Boot Camp! lol............
