This past weekend I noticed nearly all the French wines on display at our local supermarket were on sale ... and still aren't selling. Someone advanced the theory on another thread that by not buying French wine we are only hurting the local distributor ... perhaps, but by boycotting French wine the distributor won't be placing replacement orders. Bottom line, if French wine isn't moving in the U.S. it won't be long before French wineries begin to feel the pain.

I live in Santa Monica & the wine store I go to on a regular basis said that they are getting people boycotting French wine as well as those buying it just because others are boycotting it. You have the appeasers buying French wine and the liberators avoiding it.

Personally, I have never really liked many French wines...but I do like Vueve Cliquot.

Also, the guy who orders the wine told me that many of the French wineries are not even owned by the French.
