These are Sheriff Hege's deputies

Article highlights:

"Sugg fired a 12-gauge shotgun and Cupp fired his handgun. The bull was hit several times in the head and left side from about 15 feet away."

"Cupp then got an AR-15 rifle from his car to kill the bull, the report said. The AR-15 is a civilian version of a military assault rifle that fires a relatively small bullet. "They realized they had shot the bull and it was probably suffering," Rabon said. "

"Cupp and Sugg shot the bull again numerous times, but it jumped a fence and went back into the pasture with other cows."

"The gunshots seemed to have little effect on the bull, Rabon said. It was walking in the pasture later. "

Was it Me Myself & Irene? Or was it a Chris Farley movie that had the indestructable cow/bull?

A non-slug 12 guage from 15 feet, and a .223 to bring down a 2000 pound bull??? These boys did not grow up on a farm, that's for sure.

One has to wonder if the bull's name was Rasputin.

I had neighbors who went away and left no one in charge of their herd. Several times I could have used the deputies who shot the bull. The animal is not at fault but the owners are. Whereas cattle breeching fences is a regular hazard of ranching, having no one around to re-capture the critters should be a criminal offense especially when you consider that a bull servicing a herd is a pretty foul creature temperamentally. No child would have a chance.
