Oh, FWIW, isn't it funny to think that the Memphis Belle and the B-52 are really not that far apart from each other in terms of years? I think there's only maybe 20 years difference!

I read years ago that the B-52 was designed in 1945. That makes them even closer. Amazing.

The B-52A first flew in 1951 or '52, I think.

First operational deployment was '55. Current models date from '68.
