Phd stands for Piled Higher and Deeper.
... well, he told me if I remembered that, that I would do OK in my higher education. In fact, said he, only those who keep that in mind are truly capable of applying those designations properly when they receive them. I have learned in the intervening 30 years that he was spot on.
BTW, at the time, he had his MS and was working on his own Phd. LOL!
