Wasn't Downing head of an AntiTerror Task Force or something like that who resigned last fall?

I remember a couple of articles discussing the significance of him leaving but not much else and the issue vanished.

BTW, any opinion on Woodward's book, Bush @ War?

Indeed, Downing was Special Assistance to the President on Counter-Terrorism. The WH said he left because he wanted to spend more time with his family. Some in the Pentagon said he left because of the infighting at the WH. Downing is not the type to leave a post to spend more time with his family especially after this Country was badly attacked. Loosing Downing at the WG is a loss to all of us and I believe the Pentagon sources view of things on this one.
