"Mr. Hersh’s credibility may remain questionable for many because President Bush vehemently rejected his previous assertions. However, one will have to make a big assumption about Mr Bush’s truthfulness also after listening to his daily statements on Iraq. Regardless of Mr Hersh’s credit worthiness, allegations against Pakistan have been circulating in Washington circles since the last few months. Anti-Pakistan sentiments are rising slowly and one should not be surprised if the US re-imposes sanctions."

Indeed he has changed his duckspeak somewhat. This is one of the main problems he has, his continued changing of positions. He took a beating from those who are experts in the counter-terrorism fields for his previous stances in which is one of the reason for his change of heart. While statements like AQ is nothing more than a MOB and underplaying thier role in terrorism now. It is yet to be seen just how much damage we have done. While his zeal to break news on Fox or for that matter any of the cable news outlets is also troubling. You would think our spooks would have liked to have a day or two before the news on Khalid Sheikh Mohammed broke. Now they are scrambling before all the others go underground and we lose them.

This also happened during the Pearl case and if my sources are correct that book is being written now. Ijaz told me most of what he was all about during the Cosby Show when he at the end said, watch the ten oclock show I am on it! Its all about TV presence. If Mohammed was arrested in Germany or another Country Ajaz would not be a blip on Fox.

Ijaz according to my source is one of Fox's primary sources and during the Afghanistan conflict was wrong more times than he was right. Not to mention he never goes into Pakistan role in developing and financing the Taliban.

Thanks for that backgrounder. Interesting to understand some of the reasons why his tone has changed from minimising AQ/ISI to his current more balanced viewpoint.

He sounded freaked out the other day on O'reilly when speaking about the threat from jihadis in the USA and how the US media had not given them enough of a soapbox.

I had to laugh as I don'tthink any viewpoint has been given as much airtime as the muslims and jihadis of American, particularly immediately in the aftermath of the Attacks on America.

Some interesting links on the L'Affaire Pearl -

And this--

>>Khalid Khwaja, a retired Air Force officer who had worked in the ISI till 1988 and who was reportedly in touch with Osama bin Laden, are Mansur Ijaz, an American lobbyist of Pakistani origin,

>>Pearl told him that Ijaz had recommended that he (Pearl) should contact him (Khwaja). Khwaja claimed that he had turned down Pearl's request.

This site is worth checking out, too. This is where Ijaz got his recent scoop regarding the missing nuclear scientists.
