Sadly, my 7-year old son and I missed out on the rally. We were at the Valley Forge exit of the turnpike by 12:30 and didn't make it to the nearby parking area until 2. By then, the line for the shuttle bus snaked all over, and I estimated it to take another hour. We threw in the towel and drove home rather than fight the inevitable any longer.

There were huge numbers of people who, like us, never got to the rally because of the massive turnout and clogged roadways. Shortly after leaving, I heard on the radio that the shuttle buses had stopped running and that people waiting in line were left high and dry. The organizers clearly didn't expect this level of participation. Even my little son had the wisdom to see that the huge turnout was a good thing even though it kept us from participating directly. He said we could find other ways to support the President and our troops without being caught in traffic until dinnertime. That sweet, patient little kid was treated to water ice on the way home!

Oh no, that is too bad. The crowd was huge. We didn't realize how big really, until we were leaving and the lines for the busses were snaking all the way to the staging area. You're little guy gets it already!!! Today was a great day for a water ice - is Rita's open yet ??
