Hello... I don't post much, but I saw this and was outraged and did not know to whom I could turn! This is scanned directly from the City Times, the official newspaper of San Diego City College. I don't know what to do about it, or how to react, I am just so shocked that they would publish such a thing!
If anyone has any ideas what I can do about this, please tell me! (sorry if poorly formatted...)

This is the black equivalent of the Skinhead Newsletter. It is racist, deluded, and irrelevant. It reads like something from the Rev. Lou Farrakhan or a Black Panther leaflet that somehow escaped the shredder 40 years ago.

This is just an expanded screed based on Nation of Islam Mythology (Yacub's History). Ignore this clown, but hope that the alumni find out and remember when hit up for money.

Boy, I'm glad no racist wrote this piece!
Gee whiz! If some racist wrote this kind of hate-filled lies and exaggerations about another race, I mean, really, we'd have all sorts of riots and demonstrations and marches and promotions and news coverage and hate-crimes legistlations and all that commotions.
But, since a hate-filled racist DIDN'T write this, I guess we'll just have to understand diversity and send Jesse Jackson more money.

What to do about it? What is the best thing to do when a 3 year old throws a tantrum? Ignore it. Don't give it the dignity of an answer.

If a white person had written this about black people, he would rightly have been run out of town on a rail.

PS: According to your profile you like being left alone.
Why the heck are you in southern California? That place is an anthill IMO.

I don't want to make light of your distress, but be of good cheer. While you get a good solid degree, get hired by the Fortune 500 or start your own megabucks company, fall in love and marry a lovely person, have a couple of kids and a wonderful life giving away millions in your philanthropic ventures, give policy meetings for Congressmen, and attend all sorts of neat parties, Mr. I'm-kinda-ignorant-of-history will be attending gabfests in the prison lounge.

Well, since it is in your student newspaper, it is especially relevant to say that the best remedy for bad speech, even extremist hate speech like this, is more speech. If needed, get a co-author, and ask the student newspaper for permission to print your views. And somewhere find an editor to review what you write before submission. A weak editor is far better than none.
Now, if they don't allow publication of a refutation, then there is a basis for contacting an academic freedom specialist organization. Don't get hooked by the ACLU.

lol! well, I love the weather, and the surfing, and a few other things... if it weren't for those things, I'd go back to Illinois...
to Bluefish... I know I should ignore it, but I'm outraged, and this is the only campus newspaper we have. I mean, it's unacceptable... I am a senator in the student government there, I'm thinking about trying to pass a "resolution" which would condemn this, but that feels like an empty gesture. Ah well, I guess you're right...

Well, I'm of the mind that responding to such mindless rantings is not of much value.
The claim that Egypt was the cradle of black civilization has become a sort of sacred cow that no one seems able or willing to refute for fear of hurting feelings.
It's funny how self-loathing those black Egyptians must have been or is it just that the ink in the hieroglyphics has faded over time?

In this paper I will also talk about how it is impossible for them to be the supreme race and the rest of the people of color be inferior, like in books they have printed (Miss Measurements of Man) that talk about how they used to say Blacks came from monkeys and the Jim Crow cartoons didnt help. If anyone has any ideas what I can do about this, please tell me! (sorry if poorly formatted...)
I guess you could make fun of it in writing class. It's fuuny how the ones who think they are the best are often the biggest morons.

If a white person had written this about black people, he would rightly have been run out of town on a rail. Indeed. What floors me these days is that any sort of "racial pride" statements that come from minorities are supposed to be appreciated. Ah, I remember the time I heard a woman before a crowd saying loudly, "I'm not just proud to be a woman, I'm proud to be a hispanic woman!" The crowd, naturally, roared its approval.
But if I'd stood up there and said, "I'm not just proud to be a man, I'm proud to be a WHITE man," you'd all have been reading about my crucifixion the next day.
Hypocrisy...thy name is Political Correctness.

I'm thinking about trying to pass a "resolution" which would condemn this, but that feels like an empty gesture. The editor was certainly wrong to print this. The problem is that once you pass such a resolution, they will try to make their freedom of speech the issue, rather than the real issue which is their ignorant racism. If only for tactical reasons, make sure the issue, if any, remains what they believe, not the fact that it was published.

When the white folks got to Africa and the Western Hemisphere, no one even had the wheel and the most advanced society was in the early Bronze Age.
Also in both areas the inhabinets were gleefully killing and at times eating each other. Both areas flurished with slavery.
Sometimes I wonder if it isn't the KKK that writes articles like this during membership drives.

Enjoy it for the juvenile tirade it is. Why on God's green Earth did "students" become a word of reverence?

In the previous decades, there was a teacher, Christine somebody or other, at the college; she taught socialism for the masses, whatever was the actual name of the course, spelled sweetly for public consumption.
In reality, she was a multi-millioinair heiress, and she represented property holdings in San Diego.
She would, at the college, lecture students on the sharing of wealth, while in fact, she was so greedy that she held out for greater and greater offerings from real estate developers, which were beyond what they were willing to pay.
She would agree to a price; but the next day, ask for more --- she wanted so much to get the very last penny that she believed, she could have had, had she been able to read the prospectors' books.
She was descended from what you may call, "Old San Diego."
She was a model, you might say, of a very well-to-do youngster who, seeking attention, chose political opposition in order to stand out in the family.
She was apparently addicted to attention.
She would have probably championed the author(s) of the above piece; and in private, showered them with all the protections which limousine liberals have come to expect.
Unfortunately, she passed away from cancer; I think that was it. Really tragic stuff.
She was not a Scripps; she was a ... a ... can't remember the last name; sorry.
Suffice to say, what appears on the surface to you, there will be contrary facts behind the scenes of the kind of work you have seen.
