I once had a professor who had spent 2 years studying in France. He told me not ever to be fooled into thinking that the French were romantic, that they were always thinking of MONEY.
To: CasearianDaoist
No I didn't. I bet that it's a good place to hide out though.

The Logan Act specifies that those who give aid and comfort to the enemy are enemies (traitors?) of this country. Unfortunately, I understand, it has never been used. High time IMO to USE it.

What about our children killed on 9/11? What about all of the children without parents today because of 9/11? How soon we all forget.
To: Miss Marple
He is chortling gleefully that Turkey's democracy worked and they stood up to us. He only wishes that our democracy worked as well. Our democracy already spoke on this issue, and authorized force in Iraq. He just can't accept the results.

Here is the article Brit quoted from:
THE WEEKLY STANDARDMoney quote...Saddam:
As for financiers, industrialists and above all those responsible for military industry, the question must be put to French politicians: Who did not benefit from these business contracts and relationships with Iraq? . . . With respect to the politicians, one need only refer back to the declarations of all the political parties of France, Right and Left. All were happy to brag about their friendship with Iraq and to refer to common interests. From Mr. Chirac [now the center-right president] to Mr. Chevenement [the socialist former defense minister] . . . politicians and economic leaders were in open competition to spend time with us and flatter us. We have now grasped the reality of the situation [of France's support for the 1991 Gulf War, a betrayal in Saddam's eyes]. If the trickery continues, we will be forced to unmask them, all of them, before the French public.
I don't think this requires registration, but if so, this is one of the free articles.
