If they get on, voters will be asked simultaneously to recall Davis and choose his successor. Should a majority vote to remove Davis, continues the Constitution, “the candidate who receives the highest number of votes is the successor to the unexpired term of the recalled officer.” It will take only 65 signatures to place a candidate on the ballot to replace Davis.

Just put Bill Jones on the ballot. A nice warm body, without the baggage of either Bill Simon or Dick Riordan. I didn't support Jones in the primary, but right now, he would be my choice.

Frmr. Secretary of State Bill Jones, Senator Tom McClintock, Frmr. CA State Treasurer Matt Fong - three names I have heard mentioned for Governor on the GOP side. I could live with either of the three.

I personally hope Simon and Riordan stay out of this. I am cool with Simon for Senate and Riordan doing his newspaper. Their presence in a recall election might distract from keeping the attention on the need to recall Davis.
