OK, are you saying that I don't need to panic over dirty bombs? Because if I don't, that would free up a few brain cells and stress hormones.
We live in DC metro area. Husband's job is half a mile from the Pentagon.

I should mention that I have read up on chemical and bioweapons, and am reasonably satisfied that the odds are too favorable for realistic worry, given our personal set of facts.
My kids would love it if Mom relaxed.

OK, are you saying that I don't need to panic over dirty bombs? That is right. Concern, yes but panic, no.

OK, well, what should I be concerned about?
An increased risk of cancer somewhere in the future? Mass hysteria? And whatever ill effects are caused by the conventional explosion?

Thanks. I will pray hard.

John Wayne and 90 other people who were on the St. George, Utah set of the adventure film "The Conqueror" in 1954 developed various types of cancer. Many died of their cancers. It is speculated that radiation from the atomic bomb test "Dirty Harry" conducted at the Las Vegas, Nevada test-site upwind of the shoot might have caused or triggered these deaths. Clearly no definitive proof will ever exist, but the statistical chance of that many people from a single movie shoot coming down with cancer is very, very low.

OK, well, what should I be concerned about? That someone might use this weapon against innocent people. Why else?

If doubling my risk of lung cancer is the likely threat, then my take is that if a dirty bomb goes off nearby, unless I'm really close, I'm probably OK hunkering down and waiting for it to rain a couple of times.
