[history]
In perhaps its most forceful effort yet to break the stalemate over the appeals-court nomination of Miguel Estrada, the White House has now invited every member of the Senate who has doubts about Estrada's legal views to submit written questions to Estrada by the close of business Friday. In a letter delivered Thursday to all 100 senators, White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales said Estrada will respond by next Tuesday.

****I imagine she owe Hillary for something.****
Didn't Bill help turn out the black vote for Mary...made phone calls to the precinct captains on her behalf or something?
I thought I had read that if it were not for Bill, Mary would have lost.

Little did Landrieu know when she sold her soul to the devil in order to be elected, what would be expected of her "FOR THE REST OF HER POLITICAL LIFE"
You can bet there are more than FBI files being used to keep people in line. It's all about "power" folks.
Money=power
Knowledge=power
Position=power
Blackmail-power
?????=power
and on and on.

It not "stupid" It's more of an inablity to 'empower" themselves. For all the talk about "Empowerment", they only know how to rely on and/or use others..... To attach themselves. OTOH There are those who grow not in self stucture, but expand because others have attached themselves to their skirt tales.
The picture of a huge (BUTT in particular) woman with tenacles like a octapus, grabbing on to and sucking in others in order to make her space larger, comes to mind

Rush is really on a roll here.
There will be no cloture vote. Hooray! If these Democrats want to filibuster the first Hispanic nominee to the D.C. Circuit Court, let them do it!
I know they say there are new rules making a filibuster harder,
but so what?
And don't tell me that it's not "practical" anymore, because people have to go to the bathroom. That's nothing new.
Force them to get out there and filibuster this eminently qualified man, as rated unanimously by the American Bar Association.
Miguel Estrada is just a name to us, but his life is being destroyed here. It's not because he's unqualified; it's because Democrats don't like how he might think. Read George Will's column. Chuck Schumer didn't bother to ask Estrada a single question. He claims not to know any less qualified judge, when in fact he knows less qualified judges who went to the Supreme Court! Just this week, President Bush pledged to stand by Estrada until he was sworn in.

That is an equally valid extension of the problem. Leahy et. al. have now given Senate sanction to thought crimes. Based upon the loons on the 9th circus court this is a very recent and one-sided condition!

Sorry I disappeared - had to take the dear wife out to dinner. I told her everything I learned today about filibusters, cloture and adjournment.
Thanks for the lessons in Senate esoterica...I'm looking forward to the "day" of the event.

Wonder what Jeffords is thinking now?
"I can't wait to get home and put on my wife's negligee"?
Just a wild guess.;)

And don't forget, they need that extra time to think up all those questions they need answers to also. Arthur: He is the keeper of the Bridge of Death. He asks each traveller five questions-- Galahad: Three questions. Arthur: Three questions. He who answers the five questions-- Galahad: Three questions. Arthur: Three questions may cross in safety. Robin: What if you get a question wrong? Arthur: Then you are cast into the Gorge of Eternal Peril.
You are dead on the money. Thanks for the big LOL...I needed it.
