A New Move on Estrada ('Tain't over yet!)

In perhaps its most forceful effort yet to break the stalemate over the appeals-court nomination of Miguel Estrada, the White House has now invited every member of the Senate who has doubts about Estrada's legal views to submit written questions to Estrada by the close of business Friday. In a letter delivered Thursday to all 100 senators, White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales said Estrada will respond by next Tuesday.

every democrat has a soft spot like this...
get the political pliers and pull those rotten cavity soft spots... out....S_L_O_W_L_W_Y and DO NOT use political novacaine till they scream YESSSS.....

time for some political "wet work" in the good ole american tradition.
linda is a KNOWN vulnerability.
The democraptic family and friends are all liabiltities to them and ones that should be exploited by our side like the assets they are.

stick it in and twist it slowly... till they vote.

You know what occurred to me today, if the GOP gets tired, WE could go and take their places and carry right on. We know all this stuff. Heck, I know more about Miguel Estrada than I do about a lot of people I know personally!

Oh, I'd pay admission to see that!

I believe that is exactly what the Republicans are doing.

Consider that they started calling quorums at inconvenient times. Bush came out firmly for Estrada. The democrats are being invited to submit questions. Ads and interviews are being run on Spanish language stations. Grass roots organizations are being encouraged to call their Senators (RNC, Focus on the Family, Hispanic groups).

The democrats are getting very nervous. All we need is unity and patience.

chnsmok.....many disagree with President Bush on a number of issues. I really have NOT seen this lock-step that many are accused of. But it has become so devisive that if an issue is being debated....and there are many against that issue and you weigh in with an opposite POV (supportive of the President), it has become almost automatic to be called a Bush-bot.

Further, there are enough REAL issues to be debated that we don't need to manufacture issues out of thin air. Over time, again imo, I have observed a small cadre that not only DELIGHTS in posting anti-Bush material, but they also jump-start their agenda on these boards on an almost daily basis with issues that lack evidentiary support. It's like a whisper campaign that grows and grows and grows. So when one keeps saying...evidence? Evidence? Evidence? And there are no replies to the questions...over time, an opinion is formed about a poster's intent.

That is what I have observed occuring.

And I know you wre addressing Howlin, I just wanted to give my opinion too.

"then they can be accused of hypocrisy and seeking partisan gain."

dems see hypocracy in the grasping of power, as a badge of honor...
YOU are thinking like a decent person. Dems aren't.

So stop being dense. The only thing Sadaam and company understand is brute force. Knee caps and all. They understand the Craig Livingstone, kill the cat, methodology... and nothing else.

NOW will see their hypocracy as a reason to write them just another check as their baby killing agenda has been saved by democraptic murderors once again...

Remember every time Clinton jacked off in the sink, fouled another woman, or raped her and said "put some ice on it?" The dem constituency CHEERED and his poll numbers went through the roof, with them.

To them, evil is good and good is evil. To beat them we have to threaten them where it hurts... the money bags, the drug supplies, the free hookers and teenage boys (for the b frank types). You cannot "shame" most democrats. Their glory is in their shame. You knew that right?

The Ninth Circuit's action on the Newdow Pledge case today is going to make things much harder for the RATs, if the Republicans take proper advantage of the opportunity.

For you, hyperbole and momentary venting of discouragement are thoughtcrimes that serve to discredit a poster forever. Thoughtcrimes brand a person in your eyes as an enemy of the party and the people, do they not?

Incorrect.

LOL

If I'm wrong, why do you make such a big deal of one post?

Good analysis but I think you missed out on one thing. The Dems can tolerate losing the White House, they have had it only 12 years of the last 34. They have even come to live with the idea of not having control of the Congress. But they know that without the courts they are nothing.

All of the things that they value most highly, abortion being just the most visible, were given to them by judges not the people's elected representatives. Imagine a court system that believed the framers meant exactly what they wrote. That would make a renewed constitutional republic.

Yes, I think you are right about that Ninth Circuit's ruling on the pledge.

I fully expect that to be rolled into comments by some of the Conservative groups. Probably you won't hear it from the President, as it would open him to charges of trying to interfere in judicial matters.

However, I am certain that independent groups will be making statements about it, and energizing their members at the same time.

Time was (the 1930's) when the leftists distrusted the courts. What happened once can happen again.

If he's going to repeat his lie, which he did on this thread, and I see it, I'll call him on it.

(I'm sure you saw that my post was in response to his statement, once again, that he was referring to Norquist, not the president)

NARAL email...

Senator Blanche Lincoln is under increasing pressure to support the nomination of Miguel Estrada. Senator Lincoln would be breaking ranks with Senate Democrats who oppose George W. Bush's attempt to pack the federal courts with anti-choice, anti-civil rights, ultra-conservative judges.

Please call Senator Lincoln TODAY and ask her to stand firm in her support of a fair and independent judiciary. Ask Senator Lincoln to continue blocking this nominee until she commits to upholding critical constitutional rights, including a woman's right to choose. Senator Lincoln can be reached in Arkansas at these phone numbers:

Little Rock (main): 501-375-2993
Jonesboro: 870-910-6896
Fort Smith: 501-782-9215
Texarkana: 870-774-3106
Monticello: 870-367-6925

Why don't you ask Howlin about how readily I accepted her explanation of her ill-considered statement that she agreed with Jesse Jackson?

People don't always seriously mean what they seem to say.

That you did. It was a typo and you accepted that explanation right off.

However, others didn't.

Well, unless you're contending it's "momentary" over and over and over and over... LOL.

I just used a link at Hugh Hewitt's site to email Bob Graham of Florida. Keep those emails going, folks! :)

I used Hugh's link to email Blanched Lincoln too.

I'm not sure to what extent bvw's gender explanation of this whole disagreement is true. But I can tell you this, that it is true to at least this extent: when males like me (and I suspect this is also true of bvw) observe ganging up and bullying against a vulnerable individual, we are put off from the bulliers.

I am not picking a fight with anybody.

If you've read the thread, TLBSHOW was a disgrace, saying he and Rush were right and we were all wrong. I only mention that as I am not critical of anybody for one statement that they make. There is context, as I am always pointing out. He is not someone who commands my respect.

I also perceive some antipathy on your behalf toward me and don't wish to engage in some back and forth, especially since you decided to address me with a pronouncement about my assigning persons to a category (thought crimes?) that never entered my head. It seemed a bit hostile and uncalled for. Just letting you know how it came off to me.
