[history]
In perhaps its most forceful effort yet to break the stalemate over the appeals-court nomination of Miguel Estrada, the White House has now invited every member of the Senate who has doubts about Estrada's legal views to submit written questions to Estrada by the close of business Friday. In a letter delivered Thursday to all 100 senators, White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales said Estrada will respond by next Tuesday.

Unfortunately, this is not getting the attention it deserves because of the Iraq situation. Which is precisely why the GOP should force a real 24/7 fillibuster.

The issue is the quorum call again... I heard two senators are out again...

It sounds like a game of 7-card stud: two down and one up, then a round of betting and bluffing. Then another card up and more bluffing, then another, then another, and finally one more hole card and more bluffing.
I'm not holding them to the literal words they said based on the early cards, since those were meant to expose the Democrats hand. We're getting down to the final cards now, so let's see what happens from here on out.

It's not that people want 100%, it's that they have so little faith. Pretty sad. The president said he will stand by this nomination and I believe he will. When the last dog dies and Estrada does not get confirmed then I'll change my mind on this president.

That was a threat about keeping them there through vacation.
You said he threatened 24/7 and no weekends off.
Post the proof to back up that statement of yours.

Same two, actually. Bunning's wife still recovering from surgery, and Mitch McConnell is still recovering from heart surgery.

Unfortunately, to add or change a Senate rule requires a 2/3 vote. I believe that only applies to the expulsion of a member.

Nice try.
Now, find something that proves what you said.
24/7 and no weekends off.

Rush is now reviewing it all and will put the story at his web site later today, telling of the rats filibuster and says no one Bush wants will get in if this is allowed.
Not to mention Estrada life is being destroyed by the rats.

Too bad we have these Suslov conservatives who don't seem satisifed with anything less than 100%.We also have a few who evidently are taking a chapter out of the Democratic playbook and are HOPING that Bush and the GOP fails.

I know its sad to you but Rush and I am right. Republicans are caving and that really isn't right.

Did you read that comment by Trombone on yesterday's live thread? It was dead on and very inspiring.
To: TLBSHOW
He is trying to hold the republicans feet to fire, hard as it is. I thought that was your job. LOL.
If Rush thinks they are backing off then his analysis is faulty. Maybe Rush is just getting to the front of the line so that when victory happens, and it will, he can say "I held their feet to the fire." And the unlearned will be in awe of the political power of Rush.

Well, you and Rush can hang out together. I believe I will stand with the President and Estrada.
