We need some hispanic groups picketing the local offices of these senators. They should carry signs that say Senator _____ discriminates against Latinos Free Miguel!
To: Bryan24
If the Republicans cave on this, they will NEVER, EVER get another Supreme Court Nominee confirmed unless they have 60 Republicans in Congress. If Bush, Frist, Rove and company don't realize this, they are stupider than a brick. You are correct, and they are not going to fold. They understand this.

He's the 'Mother of All Wedge Issues' for the GOP ...

Yes. I just emailed him not too long ago too(along with about 30 others). Most just replied with a auto-response but NO he had to make me MORE angry! I told him he was a liar because Estrada answered his questions and invited him to ask him more. He doesn't think we are watching or listening but he is wrong. I hope he falls over the cliff with Hillary Clinton leading the pack.

Leahy said there were many UN peacekeeping operations that were succesful that didn't involve US troops.
My first question is name one.
If he wanted to filibuster, he could have named the many other failures of the UN and unlike the successes, he could be specific; Sierra Leon revolution, nothing done during the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan, failure of UN inspectors of nuclear weapons in N. Korea, nothing done about the Chavez dictatorship of Venezuela, money loans to the many corrupt governments of Argentina (IMF and UN are of the same disease), etc.

I received a similarly worded response from Hillary in which she expressed her reasons for not supporting Estrada. Its funny because I wasn't actually asking her to support Estrada's nomination but only to get out of the way and allow the Senate to vote!

I had looked away for a while and muted Leahy...looked back and thought he had donned a wig.

We need some hispanic groups picketing the local offices of these senators.
WASHINGTON, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- President George W. Bush on Wednesday again urged Senate Democrats to allow an up-or-down vote on his nominee for the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, Miguel Estrada, who would be the first Hispanic-American to serve on the court. "His nomination is being delayed and stalled by Democratic senators. His nomination has been stalled for two years. They're blocking the vote on this good man for purely political reasons," Bush said. "The senators are applying a double standard to Miguel Estrada by requiring him to answer questions that other judicial nominees over time have not been forced to answer."
Bush used a meeting with The Latino Coalition, a public policy group, to argue that Estrada deserves a vote on his nomination. Bush picked Estrada last year to sit on the nation's second-highest court, but Democrats say they want more information about Estrada's legal philosophies.
