You will have a much larger voter turnout because of young people and the others who may have given up hope trying to change things with (as they think) their ONE vote. Every vote counts.

My son is a senior in high school. He says all his friends would vote for Nuge just because he's Nuge. They have no idea what his positions are, they just know his name and his music.

Most of his politics are OK and are certainly better that what we in Michigan have; however, he is a bit to Jesee the body for me.

Sorry, that you have to move to Ann Arbor, a hideous liberal town- nice art fair in the summer however.
If hubby needs to work in Ann Arbor there may be better cities for both of you.

Michigan is not as liberal as some think. Don't forget that George C. Wallace won Michigan's Democratic Presidential Primary.

Unfortunately, you won't live long enough to see Detroit come back. Unless, of course, Saddam or Kim drops a nuclear bomb on it. Then the odds of a comeback would improve.

Yes, Ann Arbor is very liberal, but it is a wonderful town. Hope you like it. Don't miss the Wolverine football games. At 111,500 fans, they consistently have the largest crowds in the US. You can buy a ticket on the street the day of the game for $10 - $15 for most games (except Ohio State and MSU, of course).

Well, thanks for that! No one has said anything positive yet about the town of AA so I was dreading it, and not having visited the town myself yet, I don't know what to expect.

I still don't know where we'll end up living, but my husband won't want to commute forever to his job, so we just have to see where we buy a house. I live in one of the most liberal places in the country at the moment and have for many years, so I guess I can survive AA if I have to!

He's a Libertarian right?

If so, and for all the sense he makes the Libertarian platform will do him in.

He's NOT Libertarian, but Conservative, probably Republican.

The #1 thing that people here think about Libertarians is that they're for drug legalization, and Ted is 100% Anti-Drug!

George Wallace wasn't a conservative, he was a populist. His racism wasn't real, but a vehicle utilized to elect him governor of Alabama. He actually ran for governor the first time as a liberal and was beaten by Ryan deGraffenried. I forget the exact year; I was just a young kid. When he lost that election he was quoted as saying ..."I was out-ni------d that time, but I'll never be out ni-----d again." True to his word, he wasn't. He was a wizard at turning that racism into common-sense populism for a presidential run, and in my opinion, was the first to discover the Reagan Democrat voter. He later, of course, enjoyed better relations with a black Alabama consituency than any white candidate before and (probably) or since.
