I don't remember which picture came first, but the 'monkey's uncle' is Merlin. The song is at the very beginnning of the film and you get to see Annette and the Beach Boys on stage at a coffee house. It's really funny to see the look on Dennis Wilson's face. My guess... he's high.

Well, looks like we're here to shovel the dirt on the coffin of this thread. Anyway, drugs were probably the only way Dennis could get through a session with Annette. You used to see exotic combinations like that all the time on shows like "Shindig" or "Hullaballoo." Like Petula Clark and The Animals, or Lesley Gore and James Brown. After Annette we were given Donna Loren, another Shindig performer, as the beach singer. And I've still got "Sukiyaki" in my head from the other day. Maybe "Wooden Heart" will be next.
