Yeah, I guess I could sail a DR triangle between SD and Hawaii for a few weeks while I figured out "Celestial For Dummies."

Good reply in my opinion. Nothing is impossible anymore

I agree and there are those who are having a real hard time with the concept of foreign entities who want to kill us. Nothing--I mean nothing surprises me any more...all I can say, is exercise your minds for any potential threat, & stay sharp.

When I'm boating in a fog I generally just use a watch and a compass. But a lot of my friends have GPSs these days.

In any case, not too many people are going to be sailing around in the fog in February or March. Not in my part of the world, anyway. And hopefully most people have enough sense not to rely completely on such gadgets.

The thing about GPS guided drones is that it is pretty simple to build such a thing.

The vulnerability of GPS in the past was in the accuracy, and so they offered to flavors, one to the military accurate to within 5m, and the other to civiians which would be accurate to within 20m.

Those were the days when people thought you'd use GPS to guide in some sort of missle.

With chem/bio weapons, how accurate do you have to be? Coding a chip to fly a pattern of GPS waypoints and then instaling it in some sort of automated control system is literally a bachelor program project in electrical engineering, third year. We did something very similar with sailboats.

Tougher is finding a UAV with a payload big enough to handle both the fuel and the agent here in the US. Even putting something like that together, you'd have to test it somehow before you use it. This is desperation on SH's part.

Even a Loran C based system would be accurate enough for something like this.

So maybe that means it should be turned off for some period, after an announcement, rather than waiting for an incident before shutting it down.

Of course it had to be Gore's home state that did the outsourcing! The deadly stench of the Clinton Whitehouse continues to poison this land.

And did I read earlier that Ramsey Clark is visiting Saddam?!

With what I saw when I came in from an overseas flight, you can bring in just about anything you want and no one is going to catch it.

Very, very few people were having their bags checked. And with the state of the U.S. borders (wide open), this story is only news becuase someone is finally reporting it.

Certainly everyone with any sense (everyone here) knows this has been happening even if not the exact details reported in this news account.

Do you know what sounded like BS on 9-10-01? Destroying the WTC with box cutters.

Why go through all this trouble? The risks of being detected shipping this equipment in to the country would provide exactly the excuse the world is demanding from us. A pilot in a rented plane would do better here - cheaper, higher chance of sucess, less risk of connecting Iraq. As far as the comparisson to 9/11, those attacks were brilliant (I use that word very carefully), and of a compltely different nature. The WTC was not destroyed by box-cutters - control your fear. The WTC was destroyed by well trained suicide pilots flying fully fueled planes into an enormous fixed target.

This article was originally published in the NYPost on Aug. 11, 2001. Clinton sure has a hell of a legacy!

GPS was originally established as part of the National Security concern during the Cold War. Last May [2000], the Clinton administration removed encryption for GPS signals, making an extraordinary level of navigational precision available to anyone with a GPS device.

Did he call and tell you that, or is it just your wild-ass guess?

No. Geography. It doesn't take a wild-ass guess to figure that Israel would be his primary target.

Atta and Al-Ani met at Praha International, iirc. Where did they exchange the anthrax? In the duty-free shop?

No. If the Iraqis gave AQ anthrax, it was someplace else. But I'm not even sure of that.

The anthrax operation, if it was conducted by the Iraqis, was probably conducted by the Mukhabarat, not AQ.

While the two outfits have relations, my guess is that Saddam doesn't quite trust AQ as much as we might think. Personally, I don't think that Saddam is about to let anybody but his most trusted Takritis handle anthrax, VX, or any of his other WMD's.

Again, the concern is that Saddam might have done a smuggling operation with drones. It remains to be seen that he has succeeded in pulling this off.

But this is all about to become a moot point. I don't believe that Saddam's people here in the States will want to follow his orders as they see his regime dying under the weight of American power on their TV screens.

BTW, watch for a report of a rollup of Iraqi or AQ types in the US over the next few weeks.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Now, see, this is beyond "material breach" and all kinds of other UN "happy-talk" terms. If we can find specific intel on this, I would say that we are talking about grounds for war. And none of this "military action" bull$#it either. I'm talking "stand in the well of Congress and call for a declared war" kind of engagement.

And the second lard-a$$ Teddy and Hillary! and Leaky Leahy and Mealy-mouthed Conyers open their collective mouths, the nearest person has my permission to cram their fist into it.

What weapon allowed the Atta gang to hijack 757s? Box cutters.

I don't believe or disbelieve this report. We have seen Iraq testing long range drones. He does have anthrax etc. GPS guidance is available off the shelp. It can happen, as well as 100 other forms of attack.

Well, we should hear about no knock raids on R/C Modelers pretty shortly along with little old ladys calling in terrorist reports on model airplanes.

>>I believe this story is at least overblown, if not total fantasy

Same here...somebody saw a dip in some overnight polling numbers and figure another good scare will drum up some more support...the duct tape warning was wearing off to quick.

Oh, for gosh sakes, I don't discount the possibility. I just don't see any convincing evidence that Saddam has smuggled the stuff in. As it stands, all that has been noted is that Saddam might have been able to do this. No more. No less.

And they took over those planes with what? C'mon, say it with me: box cutters.

I'm not saying that some people are headed off the deep end, but let's be realistic here and not oversimplify this thing.
