Pacifism itself became indefensible in the face of Nazi tyranny and the Holocaust.

agreed. I would also add isolationism to that. It is equally indefensible in the modern world.

What the clueless have not noticed is that it takes only -one- side to start a war, and it has already been started. It is one thing to oppose war before war has broken out, and another thing entirely to oppose war while determined enemies are ruthlessly waging it upon your own country.

The terrorists have not stopped shooting at us and our allies. They haven't hit as much on our shores, but not for lack of trying, and not nothing. Snipers were shooting innocent motorists in Virginia and Maryland. Men open fire at airport ticket counters. Others try to blow up planes they are flying on, or to shoot them down with surface to air missiles. Numerous civilian targets overseas have been bombed, killing hundreds.

"Oh, but they meant Iraq". Which has been shooting at us three times a week for ten years. People in the press and on the left are blind as bats. The kulture-smog is so thick, self defense has become wanton imperialist aggression. This is known as -lying-.

Outstanding article. I think the 1st couple lines should be quoted often to anyone of us who knows a family member supporting the idiocy of the pro-Saddam marches.

"It will be difficult to disassociate the horrors revealed in Saddam's wake from the Western masses who, intentionally or not, helped protect his rule at such a critical moment."

I thinking it would be fitting to have a documentary after the war, juxtaposing the prouncements of the celebrity appeasers, with scenes of the liberation of Iraq, the celebrations in the streets of Bagdad, the joy of freed Iraqi political prisoners, the reunions of families, the discovery of weapons of mass destruction, the documentation linking other nations to these weapons, can you say France and Germany?, and the mass graves of victims from the Iraqi regime. You can see how this would hammer home a message that many will hope never gets made.

"It is said that antisemitism is the socialism of fools. This is confusing because socialism is the socialism of fools." - George Will

May I add: Pacificism is the pacifism of fools.

THE LIBERATION of Baghdad will make the jubilation at the fall of the Taliban pale by comparison. Since the Soviet bloc collapsed, those who ridiculed Ronald Reagan's characterization of the "evil empire" have themselves been discredited.
Yeah . . . and how long did it take for journalists and other anticonservatives to change the subject? A day?

Instant "old news"! Those who ridiculed Reagan's truth, "discredited"--but not so's they aren't the exact same people who are crying "peace, peace!" today . . .

Now Nixon's resignation--that topic is evergreen, all anniversaries are "important".
