To all the nay sayers. Maybe the kid can sing better than he can shoot? I think there is some level of PR going on here, but I think it is well worth it.

According to Capt. Alison Salerno, Public Affairs Officer for 1st Force Service Support Group at Camp Pendleton, despite erroneous reports published earlier,
he is assigned to a section not currently scheduled to deploy. Futhermore, the Marine Corps appreciates the level of talent the Marine possesses and recognizes the benefits of allowing him to continue competing on the program.
I guess you heard a rumour!

If his unit is not deployed, this is absolutely a good thing for the military.
