February 24, 2003 -- WASHINGTON - Special "hunter-killer teams and aircraft would target Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein - and his two evil sons - within 48 hours of the launch of any military campaign, The Post has learned.

The moves would include a series of massive, surgical airstrikes and commando raids in the opening hours of the action. Specially trained operatives would target Saddam, sons Uday and Qusay and other key aides.

I just hope - unlike Osama - that we leave enough to identify at an inquest.

Good point. If Saddam is gone, and Uday is the new leader, he probably won't want the heat that will come raining down (literally) if he does unleash WMDs.

Yeah, he has the gun...but like Barney Fife...it isn't loaded...it just looks good with the suit.

LOL. Although, I wouldn't doubt that it is loaded; the fine gent has a fancy for killing. He brought an AK47 to a party and fired a long burst at *his uncle* and killed many in attendance at the party.  This crew makes the Sopranos actually seem like Andy Griffith!

Nothing would be better than these three heads on a pike with instructions that anyone who lays down their arms will be treated fairly.

We might avoid further war right there.

Of course, we'd still have to take the joint over to facilitate the new regime.

Preferably 48 hours BEFORE the campaign, to minimize casualties when the "true believers" have no one left to defend!

"...weren't the hostages released just prior to Reagan's inaugeration? My memory is fuzzy on this, but that is my initial reaction. I voted for Reagan but I don't remember giving him credit for this. "

They were released either just before or just after but definitely after the election.

The only reason I remember this is because if the tremendous stink that the "Squirrel Slayer" made over the whole incident.

Didn't Saddam kill one or two of his sons for defecting once they returned back home after being promised "all was forgiven?"

Sons-in-law. I think.

This whole thing reminds me of that scene from Billy Jack:

Billy Jack to punk: "I'm going to take my left foot and kick you on the right side of your face........and there's not a go**amned thing you can do about it. "

Why in the world do newspapers post this stuff? I know it could be disinfo, but why not just be quiet about it?

It would be nice to have a definitive outcome. Would it be too much to ask that we put Saddam's head on a pike?

Uday is gonna blow his nuts off carrying a pistol like that.

What do you want to bet that Daddy doesn't let Uday have a loaded magazine while in his presence?

"I voted for Reagan but I don't remember giving him credit for this."

I, too, voted for Reagan and I remember giving him credit for the hostages release. The hostages were released days from/after Reagan's inaguration.

It was clear to most Americans back then that the hostages were freed because of the coming new leadership. Jimbo should certainly never be given credit for the hostages release. He was, and still is, a very weak man.

The announcement that the hostages were to be freed happened during the inauguration ceremonies. I was in the crowd and remember people starting to pass along the rumor... word spread quickly. It was a most exciting time.

This timing served two purposes: First it avoided the humiliation that the Iranians would have suffered had they given Regan a chance to make a demand on them before they turned the hostages loose; and, second, by waiting until after Carter had left office they got a final slap at that pathetic, impotent, sancitmonius Jimmy Carter.

Excellent analysis.

Thanks for putting my sentiments into words for me.

Why is the Post revealing this? Better yet, why would this be leaked in the first place?

To scare Saddam into fleeing without a fight.
