What is JTF?

Joint Task Force. Each JTF is a separately assigned mission by the NCA (National Command Authority) which is assigned military forces and continues until the mission is complete.

Haiti and Balkans would be two good examples. Even though the 'conflicts' may have seem to have ended, we're still staffing them until the JTF is dissolved.

JTF reports directly to NCA so they may act parallel to the geographic 'warfighting' CINCs.

Another way of looking at it is 'how many battles do we we have underway?' and how do we produce closure?
