I conducted a quick search online and found a site that states that there were 17,500 industrial fires in 1999- or an average of 47-48 per day. There was no information on just what counted as an industrial fire, but so far, it looks like these fires are pretty common. The most likely scenario is media hypersensitivity due to the RI tragedy and the high terror alert. I suggest sobriety. I will let you know if I find better, more recent, more comprehensive statistics.
