Bloated Budget Will Make You Gag (Rush Limbaugh)

Check this out from the Washington Post: "President Bush will sign legislation this week setting a 2003 budget that raises federal spending by 7.8% over last year, capping a remarkable two years in which the federal budget increased by 22%." Yet there are people complaining that we're "cutting" or not spending enough money so people are starving. The $791.5 billion spending bill for 2003 will set a record.

Defense and homeland security aside, this budget is out of control. The Democrats want to spend even more on all this discretionary spending - which is going up faster than at any time since 1985. This "compassionate conservatism" has turned out to be no better than liberalism when it comes to federal spending - and you wonder why nobody is for tax cuts? It's clear where everybody's priorities are, and it isn't us. It's spending to buy votes for their reelection campaigns. Why, no one even discusses limited government anymore! It's a two-party bidding war!

I'm not cowed or concerned about the deficit. We can grow our way out of that. It's the spending that's going to do long-term damage. We don't have the money to afford all of this, yet we're putting it all on the books so these bills must be paid in ever-increasing amounts forever! You cannot sign the biggest agriculture subsidy bill in history, and that farm bill last year, and spend more on an education bill than anyone in history, and nationalize 70,000 airport security jobs rather than keep the airlines paying for them, and add in a new prescription drug entitlement...

"Compassion" is now defined by the size of federal spending, and how many days you're willing to force the American people to work as slaves for the government. It wouldn't hurt Republicans to remember that they belong to the party of individual liberty and limited government and capitalism and the rule of law - not an overarching, ever-growing federal government with tentacles into virtually every realm of society. This bothered me the first six months of the Bush administration. They said it was to win by denying Democrats issues. You can say it worked, but how are we any different from them? Because we spend 15% less? It's time for the veto pen, folks.

That's why I didn't vote W in the first place. Who wants a Gore-lite?

I pray not...
The Clinton's in their loathing of the military (hence veterans) I expect this from...
Hopefully this admin will do something before the vets come home...

Wow, when I listen to Rush, 1/2 of the time I feel like he's shooting me a line of cr@p...

Who'd have thought he would sum up my feelings exactly? I am very disenchanted with W, to the point that I intend to vote libertarian next time to send the party a message that it can't take Yeti for granted.

I just keep finding myself in very strong disagreement with things W does(except Iraq and Afghanistan).

They said it was to win by denying Democrats issues.

I know, I know.

The line of reasoning seems to be that by stealing my money and my liberty, they will get some democrat votes ... and then what? Then I get my money, my privacy and my freedom back?

OK, right.

Bush is raising non-defense faster than Bill Clinton did in the same time period. Related thread-

I really don't understand why Bush is expanding welfare programs and handouts as fast as he can.

What's really sickening is that a republican congress and a republican administration is approving a budget that is just chock full of pork barrel items. $350,000 to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; $70,000 to the Cowgirl Hall of Fame; and many, many others........

I too dislike liberal spending, however, remember that President Bush "supposedly" did not get the popular vote.

He has said that he represents all the country, so unless or until there is a majority of voters ready to stop transferring wealth from one group to another group, blaming Bush is beside the point.

I do not hear much support for the tax cuts proposed. If we are to change where the majority of people collect their dollars, the tax system has to be the first step and this should be No. 1 priority.

When majority of people work for income and get to keep income then we can require the government to stop funding. Taxes are the method of directing how one lives, what the government wants to happen.

I support the tax cuts and the people would too if they had a clue about taxes at all, takes undoing 40 years of liberal BRainwashing.
