Hey, Mr. Winestainhead! We already reaped the whirlwind--on 9/11/01.

Why don't you use your "think-tank" for something useful--like removing the map of Europe from your head.

“How many decades did we have a Cold War? But we found a way out,” he said.

Well... I guess surrender is an option...

I'll let Winston express my opinion on this for me:

"Go forth and multiply"

"No longer playing an active role in Russian politics but delighted to have his opinions sought..."

For good reason. The man ranks as an even bigger failure than...Jimmy Carter.

The gesture Winston is giving means the same to us as just using one finger means to you.

Britain a "satellite" of the US? This from the former head of an empire that held a hundred different nationalities in varying degrees of slavery?

Somebody remind me again, what was Gorbachev ever elected to? I think that little Rohrshach Test on his dome has finally cut off the oxygen to his brain. Why would anyone care what an unemployed Commie dictator thinks anyway? History has moved on.

Mr Gorbachev’s policies during the late 1980s unleashed forces that he was unable to control ... The new world order that handed global hegemony to the United States was the profound, if unintended, consequence of the policy initiative for which history will remember him.

Really? So the collapse of the Soviet Union was merely due to the "unintended consequence" of Gorby's "policy initiative?" I guess the Times must have forgotten Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. Facts are such difficult things.
