I forgot these:
Red Dawn
- More achievement against great odds. It also shows the American spirit.  Wolverines!
Rudy
- More achievement against great odds and it's a true story.
Top Gun
- Finally, a decent modern military movie!
Starship Troopers
- Did you notice that the government was based on the Roman Empire?
Casablanca
- The classic Bogey film.

Star Wars and Star Trek movies, except for the Star Treks with the bald guy.  Live long and prosper.

You can also include any of the musicals with Audrey Hepburn, Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron, Fred Astair, Ginger Rogers, Donald O'Connor, Vera-ellen, etc.

Also, most of the old war movies are great.  The new war movies mostly suck.  The same applies for Westerns and swashbucklers.

In general, the older movies were just far better in black and white, than all the new politically correct movies, with all their special effects.  They have come to rely too much on special effects and the actors are all too often one dimensional.  Then, to top it off, many modern movies and actors use the medium to try to send a liberal message.  The older stuff was mostly pure entertainment, by actors who could make you believe in the character.
