Rather's local story
Here's a little story from CBS: About a dozen years ago, a teen-ager was caught trying to steal CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather's car from a Fort Worth hotel parking lot. Rather declined to press charges, but instead had a talk with the lad about right and wrong. Apparently, he listened: Tamarsh Thompson, now 27, is an Apache helicopter pilot stationed in Kuwait, where Rather happens to be this week, anchoring the newscast from afar. Rather ran into him and took advantage of the coincidence to do a story on last night's newscast.
Two decent bright young women were murdered in these same facilities elsewhere, though in the same Province. They were detention home workers. I myself, was attacked, though not seriously. I got out quickly of that system.
Herewith my assessment of juvenile offenders. Only about one in five would approximate that attitude and fairly quick assimilation into society. That being Rather's success. The odds are that at least three out of five will take everyone and anyone for the mugs, that they consider the Social Workers and court authorities are.
They will always live for what THEY need NOW. They will betray their friends. They will cheat their parents. They will steal from stores as a free cost of living plan. They want gratification of their needs now, not tommorrow. They will only become assimilated into society and live and let live, when it ceases to be an advantage to live as they have lived- on the edge of society. Rather and the liberals will use this example as the norm. Hey, Rather could have been beaten or stabbed- any disputes? Read your newspapers.
