I worked in criminal court as a court reporter, and I was allowed to carry a gun to and from work. Then left the .9 mm in the Marshal's office while in court. Heck, my judge had a Glock in his desk drawer in the courtroom. His whole staff new how to shoot.

Yikes! My mom is a court reporter too (in LA), and I think had to take a depo out on the West Side today. She usually drives through downtown too...I hope she missed this!

There are a lot of routes (freeways) to get to the West Side of LA. You can go southeast to get northwest, et cetera. It doesn't sound as if she would be near the Blue Line.
