The Siege of Firebase Gloria was a great movie. But the point made by the VC commander towards the end of the film was that Hanoi ultimately regarded the VC as a threat to its future rule of Viet Nam, and sought to spend the lives of its cadres in battles that they knew the VC would either lose or suffer drastic losses in a 'win'. Typical Communist policy at work. Murderous bastards, all.

Yah, my problem with that film is that it makes the VC too nice, although it does show that village with the people chopped up. But the benign VC commander isn't mean enough.
