Actually, I am trying to maintain overall strength and health, staying as mobile as I can.

OK, LOL, he can't do the laundry, but make sure you don't get tired taking care of others. TV dinners etc.

My arm doctor (who was the head of orthepedic surgery at George Washington Univ.) was a big fan of mobility for me ('cause I got that metal bar): he wasn't a cast person. He thought that if the break was stabilized, better to not lift things but to be a little mobile from the beginning. He also taught me, as did the physical therapist, that doing my arm exercises religious and getting LOTS of rest was key. I don't think they keep people in casts for as long as they used to . . . .

I totally sympathize with you on the washing of hair problem: I found that trying. Well, LOL, a broken arm did teach me to be a little more patient: everything took longer and I just had to slow down. Which was NOT easy, but what choice does one have? I really wish you the very best of recoveries with lots of rest and all.

Free, thank you for your concern about my safety. This has been quite an experience. We used to have lots of ice storms in Tenn., but this is the first one we've had since moving to WV. Strange thing is that we were right on the line between snow and ice, and we got the ice. Trees down all over the roads. 100,000 people without electric and at least half that many without water. The rest of them in the southern part of the state are dealing with flooding. Floods are a normal part of WV life and we know how to deal with them, but the ice is harder to combat. Hubby and I didn't even try. We just packed our suitcase and headed for a motel. We slept too much and ate too much and I almost finished reading "Bush at War" by Woodward, but we are really glad to be home. My back couldn't take another night on that motel matress. Too hard.
