I figured something out about quilting long ago -- cotton can be very forgiving -- you just pull on it a lot. I also realized that I didn't mind my quilts looking, um, err, "homemade." I doubt that I've made a quilt that's not a couple of inches longer at the top or the bottom or in the middle. I just cut the bottom to match!
Now, my sister is aghast at my attitude, but I've never had any complaints about my quilts!

I think you have the right attitude. You are quilting primarily for enjoyment, right? Well, there you have it. I remember helping my mother and aunts quilt when I was really young. No sewing machines, it was all done by hand and they cut big pieces.
