For your evaluation.

"I am a member of the US armed forces and I detest this war."

Then have the courage of your convictions and refuse to obey orders sending you there. Refuse to obey your superiors.

Your oath was to obey the lawful orders of the Commander-in-Chief and those officers appointed over you. There is nothing illegal about the orders you have been given. You don't get to pick and choose the orders you obey and the orders you don't. Soldiers do not get to choose the battles they are ordered to fight. Violate it if you want, but be prepared to face the consequences, sluggo.

See you in court, weasel.

"I am a member of the US armed forces and I detest this war..."

Okay, sluggo, what's your rank, MOS, and what unit of assignment? I'm certain that, since you are so adamant that this administration is violating the Constitution by engaging in this war, you wouldn't be averse to putting such into the court system as soon as you can so that your status can be immediately determined, as well as the implications of your beliefs on good order and discipline.

I would be more than willing to forward your comments to the appropriate Criminal Law Division within the Staff Judge Advocate's Office that services your general court-martial convening authority.

Step up, son ... have the courage of your convictions. Show us old vets where we are .. and were .. wrong. Shame us into supporting you by the brilliance of your defense.

"I, ___________________________________, do solemly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

You forgot the other part of your oath. Without establishing that the orders that you have been given are illegal, you are required to obey them.

Exactly what part of the Constitution is being violated? If you're hanging your hat on the "declaration of war" paragraph, it has been legally established by case-precedent that such is not required .. see all of the applicable Korean War, Vietnam, and DESERT STORM era court-martial decisions ... finally determined at Supreme Court level.

Come on, sluggo ... go before the cameras and refuse to deploy. Tell your Division Commander to go suck eggs, that he's a lackey of traitors who are violating the Constitution and that you won't have any of it. Demand your right to be court-martialed to prove the correctness of your position.

Nancy-boy.

"traitor:

\Trai"tor\, n. [OE. traitour, OF. tra["i]tor, tra["i]teur, F. tre[^i]tre, L. traditor, fr. tradere, traditum, to deliver, to give up or surrender treacherously, to betray; trans across, over + dare to give. See Date time, and cf. Betray,Tradition, Traditor, Treason.]

1. One who violates his allegiance and betrays his country; one guilty of treason; one who, in breach of trust, delivers his country to an enemy, or yields up any fort or place intrusted to his defense, or surrenders an army or body of troops to the enemy, unless when vanquished; also, one who takes arms and levies war against his country; or one who aids an enemy in conquering his country. See Treason.

Immediately adjacent to such a definition should be posted a photo of "A Tall Man in a Cowboy Hat".

"A Tall Man in a Cowboy Hat" (aka "Quisling")
"A word Norwegians are not very proud of having given to the world: it derives from Vidkun Quisling (1887-1945), a Norwegian politician who collaborated with the Nazis during World War II. He established his name as a synonym for "traitor", someone who collaborates with the invaders of his country, especially by serving in a puppet government."

You don't have to shout at me. (I sound like my kids.)

I have been on the FRONT LINES -- the front lines supporting the men and women who are already out there fighting the war on terrorism and defending our freedoms.

I don't owe you any explanations, but I know very well the seriousness of having someone you love in another country fighting a war. My husband was in Vietnam, stationed in-country in the mountains and received a Bronze Star for his service to our country. He would send me cassette tapes and I could hear people shooting at them in the background. Friends of ours didn't make it back and their names are engraved on the Vietnam Memorial Wall. When the troops returned to the U.S., they were treated very badly by the anti-war protesters and they were victims of the sentiments of the day. I know how very much our men and women in the military need the support of fellow Americans when they are risking their lives and doing their duty.

Of course, I don't want war; however, we are already in the midst of a war -- did you think it was over? -- and we are on the brink of action in Iraq. Saddam Hussein has been given every chance, and then some, to disarm for a period of 12 years. He hasn't done so. He does have weapons of mass destruction and he has demonstrated his ability and deliberate use of them to wipe out whole villages of men, women and children. He is conscienceless and merciless and cannot be trusted not to use them again or pass them on to terrorists to use against his enemies -- and that includes the US.

This Patriots Rally for America IV is organized so that people who care can come together to support our troops (you included), our Commander-in-Chief, and our great country. The men and women in the Armed Services need and deserve the support of all of us regardless of our differing views on the war.
