Ken Schram Commentary: What Did They Expect To Accomplish?

SEATTLE - Maybe it was the courage of their convictions?
Or it could it have been the strength of their beliefs?
Personally, I think it was that the morning temperature exceeded their collective I.Q.
The kindest thing that can be said about the demonstrators who thought they'd score anti-war points with their traffic antics on 520 Tuesday morning is that they were misguided.
What did they really expect to accomplish?
Let's see, how about giving people more time to think about the futility of war by making them late for work?
Wait. Reverse psychology. Maybe they wanted to get folks P.O.'d to the point of blaming President Bush for FORCING the protestors to risk alienating the very people they want support from?
Or how about this possibility: The yahoos that pulled off this stunt are actually in cahoots with those who SUPPORT war with Iraq.
Yeah, that's it. Embarrass the anti-war effort by creating the impression that really, really stupid people are the only ones who could possibly be opposed to military action against Saddam Hussein.
Just round up a few shills with a good young-to-middle-aged demographic, set them loose on the freeway under the guise of peace, and watch the frolic and mayhem unfold.
That's gotta be it: A diabolical plot to foster support for war by pretending to be protesting for peace.
Either that, or these folks are dumber than rocks.

One needs to understand that WTO riots, peace protests, etc. are class warfare. Class warfare is about intimidation and not about winning hearts and minds.
If one looks at the way the democratic party has used Medicare, Healthcare, welfare rights, school lunch programs, education, income tax reductions, affirmative action, slavery monitary reparations and a host of issues against the elected Republicans, one can see a pattern of class verbal warefare. The peace activists have just upped it a notch and taken it to the streets.
LOL! I was thinking pretty much the same thing. Maybe Schram was on 520, that might explain it.
