Ken Schram Commentary: What Did They Expect To Accomplish?
February 18, 2003
By Ken Schram
SEATTLE - Maybe it was the courage of their convictions?
Or it could it have been the strength of their beliefs?
Personally, I think it was that the morning temperature exceeded their collective I.Q.
The kindest thing that can be said about the demonstrators who thought they'd score anti-war points with their traffic antics on 520 Tuesday morning is that they were misguided.
What did they really expect to accomplish?
Let's see, how about giving people more time to think about the futility of war by making them late for work?
Wait. Reverse psychology. Maybe they wanted to get folks P.O.'d to the point of blaming President Bush for FORCING the protestors to risk alienating the very people they want support from?
Or how about this possibility: The yahoos that pulled off this stunt are actually in cahoots with those who SUPPORT war with Iraq.
Yeah, that's it. Embarrass the anti-war effort by creating the impression that really, really stupid people are the only ones who could possibly be opposed to military action against Saddam Hussein.
Just round up a few shills with a good young-to-middle-aged demographic, set them loose on the freeway under the guise of peace, and watch the frolic and mayhem unfold.
That's gotta be it: A diabolical plot to foster support for war by pretending to be protesting for peace.
Either that, or these folks are dumber than rocks.

I may have to pack up and head for the hills.... The end times are near... Ken Schram is making sense! HA!
Here is the story about the bridge protest he speaks of: (click the pic for full story)

Personally, I think it was that the morning temperature exceeded their collective I.Q. Farenheight or Celsius?

these folks are dumber than rocks. ~Ken SchramI say that deserves a drink, eh?
Cybercowboy..... Washington ping!

Both.... it was about 40 degrees this morning!

Both.... it was about 40 degrees this morning! You must have the sign wrong. The Celcius and Farenheight scales are equal only at -40º.
To: Paleo Conservative
But the question was whether "morning temperature exceeded their collective I.Q."
Which means their collective IQ is Less than 40 (degrees f)
*and*
their collective IQ is Less than 5 (degrees C)
By answering "both" I am proposing that both are true statements which is possible!

"The end times are near... Ken Schram is making sense! HA!" Agree--usually Schram is "boobus maximus", but I guess is like the broken clock---even Schram is right occasionally.

And plus.... nobody but foreigners use Celcius round these parts!

This world is a carnival. Sometimes I am just overcome with absolute amazement.
And I doubt he is really 'right'. I doubt he supports Bush in any way. I am thinkin' he was probably just 87,462 cars back in the backup that followed this little stunt and it ticked him off, and he now thinks the antiwar movement looks silly. Purdy funny if you ask me.

I say that deserves a drink, eh? Thanks for the prompt. I went and made myself a frozen mudslide! Mmmmmmmm.... :-)

The protesters say this is just the start of what they promise will be interesting times. This COULD be interesting ;0) Hippies are fun to play with...

Both.... it was about 40 degrees this morning! Sorry, but the temp scales are equivalent at -40 degrees not 40 degrees above zero.

Actually looking at the picture of the little teepee:
I would've just plowed right through it. Wonder why they didn't. The first row of cars must have been in on the stunt!
To: HairOfTheDog
Woulda made sense - how else could they do that when traffic is flowing??? :0)

To: Chad Fairbanks
Did you notice my typo in the title? - I really didn't mean to call him 'Scram'.
To: HairOfTheDog
Would it matter if there WAS water? Not to me ;0)

That's the guy who called Rush Limbaugh today and said that he and his friend infiltrated an anti-war rally with their funny signs - they're hilarious!
