Nope, it's some kind of tradition, just like the one of having a "Squid" at one end of the bar in EVERY saloon scene made, outside of Westerns. Wonder why that is?
And as far as the "Crackerjacks" go,(actually, Service Dress Blues or SDB's to us) my command today had an SDB inspection...over 1300 people, all polished up in our Blues. Officers, Chiefs, and Bluejackets, of which I am one, all popped tall and proud in our finest uniforms and gleaming shoes.
I love that uniform, so much I got married in it.
I offer you a blessing...!
In the Name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit...
I offer a true Navy Blue wish that you experience only happiness!!
I hope you won't hold that against me!
You know a squid should never be that "mushy!!"
Yessiree!!!
I dug my Dress Blues out of the cedar chest and wore them two times last November.
Once to a Support Our Troops Infinite FReep in FResno on Veteran's Day Weekend, and again at the closing ceremonies of the Traveling Wall on Veteran's Day. They still fit after 35 years. :) (Well, maybe a little snug).
Thanks for your service LC! Salute!
